MISSION STATEMENT: Aslan Youth Ministries‘ mission is to effect permanent change in the hearts and minds of at-risk youth residing in Red Bank, Long Branch, Asbury Park and Neptune, New Jersey. For the past 45 years, Lynn Ann Bogard, our COO, has single-handedly formulated educational programs to directly address the shortcomings of urban economically distressed children. By participating in our after-school programs targeted towards specific needs, students see improvement in their social skills, emotional development, and academics. All programs incorporate supportive relationships and positive expectations for achievement.
THE PROJECT: Director of Volunteers
The hiring of a Director of Volunteers will enable recruitment and training of a new generation of Aslan volunteers – mentors, teachers & life-coaches – for the children in our care. There will be an immediate impact on those children hurt by the learning loss caused by the pandemic. Our goal for our one-on-one tutoring program is to, within 3 years, double the number of students we reach. Our Director of Volunteers will also greatly impact the 140 students in our Right Choices character development classes, thereby continuing our work to close the achievement gap in underserved communities.
